Of Marriage and Single Life

Francis Bacon believes that unmarried men are more financially better off than married men, but then again a married man doesn’t know about the compassionate feeling that a man gets from a wife. But marriage also depends on the person’s age as well.

“Of Marriage and of Single life,” Francis Bacon compares two kinds of men, one of who are single, and the other who are married in different ages. Bacon displays how a younger person should not marry as he/she will have a lot of responsibilities, and they have the responsibility to earn well. They would not be able to balance out their time between family and work. Not only that, with single men of all ages, have a tendency to be crueler than married men due to not having the compassion you would have from a child or your wife. Even if they are nicer in some ways, like giving to charity or helping out, if the question came to marriage, they would run away due the thinking that being single is another form of freedom from the chains of commitment. Other than that, middle aged men would be more considerate for marriage as they would be more settled in their job so the family can be supported. With older men, a wife would more likely to take care of the husband like a nurse rather than a having a family that acts more like a family.

Francis Bacon explains the proper age for a person to marry. Marriage, being a serious matter for some, especially for many women displays how many different men would treat them. For a single man, the compassion is not there because a man knows about humanity and discipline from having a child and a wife. Marriage at younger age puts restrictions on what a person needs to achieve when they start work. With this restriction, a person would have a hard time starting a family. If marrying a middle aged person, a family would run much more easily because there some sort of a stable responsibility in the family. If marrying an older man, a woman would not have the marriage that she would hope for. So basically, Bacon shows that if you want to have a successful marriage, it is better to marry a middle aged partner.

Looking at this judgment of Bacon, I can say that it is in a way true. Having a cousin that was married off pretty young, she did not have a good time in her marriage as both her and her husband were young at age. Not only that, but they had just started off in jobs and they were having a very hard time in their marriage. At the end of it all, they had split up due to this misconception of their marriage being good. This is one example of how a marriage has a higher chance of failing due to the instability of their marriage. This shows how Francis Bacon’s idea of the aging on marriage cannot be successful if the couple is too young. Bacon shows how, even with money, there needs to be a sense of responsibility, and in this case, none of them seemed to be ready for the responsibility ahead of them and none of them wanted to improve.

TV is good for you...

TV is good for people who have not touched even a little bit of education, especially in the rural areas.

For many people, Television is a form of entertainment and entertainment only. Due to this reason many people call it the “idiot box.” But one thing a lot of people do not know is that many rural areas got the idea of the television a few years later than them. With the television set, we humans come to know a lot about the current events around the world, and other things with the broad spectrum from news to Hollywood, Bollywood, and even to cartoons. Television gets us many advantages as the children enjoy their childhood due to the cartoons, and adults with news or movies. Not only does it give us current issues or something, but for many, it is the only source of education.

In different places of the world, there are many people who don't have access to any source of education, be it in paper, or any other form of education or lifestyle. As shown with research, India is one of those places. Rural parts in India show how the use of television has gotten many females around the villages to turnover to a different kind of living. Television may be a source for many to gain weight, but for a lot of women in this country, it is a different story altogether. Television demonstrates for many women in India how a person can improve their live style. As shown by research, many Indian women in the rural areas now have a higher percentage for education. As many were even beaten up due to irrational reasons, many have gained the courage to stand up against some parts of the society.

Men losing their authority little by little, shows how television can, not only be a source of uselessness, but also a source of courage. Television is something that many people do not appreciate due to a stereotypical thinking of how people are lazy watching TV all day all night. But one thing they don’t realize is that sometimes what one may think is true, might probably is not true for someone else. Television is a good thing as people start to think outside their bubble and start realizing that the wrong is wrong. When research is done, people then realize that TV is not generally bad altogether. Men start to lose their monopoly on their family’s life as many females start to see how the world is changing due to TV. The set allows one to believe on hope for change, a hope for a better world.

TV may cause many difficulties in many peoples social life, but that doesn’t really make it bad altogether. People have many different opinions on everything in this world, so my opinion would be that TV is not a bad thing. Having it help out people who hardly get help from the world around, gets them a great chance to interact with their peers and talk about things they normally wouldn’t, get a chance to see the world, not only around them, but also the global view.

Rick Santorum, Meet my son.

A woman should be allowed to abort her child if she wanted to.

Having a child like Ronan, Emily Rapp is one of the few people I have heard of actually taking care of her disabled child. Having a child like that, I too would be sad of losing him/her fast. With disabilities that are being detected before the child is born, or when a child is born, the parents should have the authority to abort the child. Being their child, the doctors or the government should not allow abortion to be banned even though it is a secondary way of murder. But if a child who had so many disabilities, the parents should be allowed to do what they feel is right for the kid.

If a child’s life goes around like Ronan’s, it is heart breaking for a parent to see the child live through it. With this, the mother should be allowed to take charge and say whether the child should be aborted, if disabilities noticed earlier, or should the child live on. With the choices that we can make now, a person should be able to tell the different between good and bad. Even though something good for one person may be bad for another, looking at the condition of Ronan, if they had come to know about his disease before he was born, he wouldn’t have to live through with his life with blindness, paralysation, seizures and much more.

With Emily, her mother had a choice to abort her, but instead she made a choice not to. These kinds of choices are meant for the mother to make if she believes that the child will survive or when she believes that the child will be fine in the real world. The mother had the full authority to reject the abortion option as she would be the only one to think what the best is for the child’s future. When the parents have a handful of little children, there are many doctors who consider the woman to consider an abortion.

Having heard many of my childhood stories told to me, there were many times when I couldn’t stop laughing because of my stupidity and one time when I cried. Honestly, now thinking about it, I didn’t really have to cry, but sometimes it just happens. I had come to know that the doctors had told my parents to consider aborting me due to the hassle I would create with two more very little siblings. When my mom told me that, I started questioning myself saying how life would be now without me being here. But I kept that aside because my mom made a choice of not aborting me.

With Emily, even though Ronan has so many disabilities, she shows courage for the boy and still loves him through his thick and thin. There are times, even when you know that you would be going through a new experience, there would be many when it might hurt you, but you just learn live, love and laugh through it all.

Never go to bed angry

Research has shown that going to sleep depending on emotional stages does cause changes of the sleeping ways. Experimenting with 100 odd people by showing them pictures be it neutral, negative or positive. Around 12 hours later, or the next morning, they see the difference between with a positive emotion to neutral and negative to measure their brain activity by looking at the rapid eye movement. Or when they sleep, it shows that the brain, due to the emotional state, brings out memories or experiences that have been preserved of the same emotion in a dream. So they say sleeping when you are angry is one reason why many people having restless nights, or sleepless nights. Adding to that, sleep also increases the emotional state of memories.

Reading this, I realize that there are time when I fall asleep angry or with a negative mood, I don't usually sleep as well as I would. For me, sleeping is something I love to do, so if I am going to be angry when I am about to sleep, I usually start to think of something positive to change my mind. I would never really think that due to the happens of my emotions, my brain would bring out memories of which resemble my emotions when I went to sleep. I always thought that it is what you think about last is what causes your dreams to come out as what they are. Well I guess that was the same thing. But if my negative emotion before going to bed is going to give a restless night, then I guess now I would be trying to sleep in a positive emotion.

Killed for giving a baby girl

Afghan women is killed for giving birth to a baby girl

In Afghanistan, have a baby boy calls for celebration, yet having a girl is usually seen as a burden to parents. A women from North-Eastern Afghanistan has been arrested for killing her daughter-in-law for not giving a son, but three daughters consecutively. The killed husband now has fled as he was suspected for helping out for the murder. The officials being told that the mother-in-law tied up her legs while the husband strangled her to death. Neighbors say that she lived in hell, and that her husband was an illegal militia who was armed. The wife also told him to lay low and not to go out with thugs, but he never listened.

With stories like this going around in the news, it pains me to see that having baby boys are more important than females, even to many of the mother's or mother-in-laws's. It pains me even more to see that women die due to not giving a boy as a child. I mean, is this really how a female should be living. So what if you have a girl? If you keep killing people for having females, and if only males were in the society, how were you planning to get more babies? Being a girl is not a bad things, sure it has more complications than men in the bodily functions, or lesser power, but we can come to use in ways that men wouldn't. It is sad to see that men in Afghanistan already don't see women equally, but also that they join forces with their mothers to get rid of them because of no male heir to the family. But I guess for many people, this is something that normal, treating females like dirt.

Women in pants and miniskirts stripped naked.

Malawian Women protest due to the attacks for wearing pants and miniskirts.

Stripped out of their clothes due to not following tradition, how many people even do that now? Many Malawian women were stripped naked by the men due to not following the tradition of them wearing dresses, and instead wearing clothes such as pants, miniskirts or leggings. Due to this mishap, many of the women protested against this, wearing legging, pants, skirts, T-shirts, and other forms of clothes. Meeting in closed in places and ordering out the protests, these protests have gone to the nation's leader, and has ordered to arrest anyone who is attacking a women due to what she is wearing. As being a democracy, the law of wearing miniskirts and others that was banned, has been laid out again saying that women have the rights to wear what they feel like since the year of 1994.

Men might be the tougher gender, but they need to realize that putting down the females is not going to get our respect as we have the same emotions as they do. Stripping down someone for not following their traditions is not the right thing to do. Yes, tradition is meant to be kept, but if you try to live in today's world, and keep tradition going along with it, you just might be left behind in society. Also, being a country that is supposed to be lead by the people, they should have the rights to what they want to wear, and adding to that saying that the banning of pants etc. was demolished, the men had no rights to strip the women down naked and say they are not following tradition. I believe that the President, Bingu wa Murtharika, made a wise move towards a new way of thinking and getting more rights to the women to do what they please like by getting the attackers arrested.

Graduation of the Congolese Women Sexual Harassment Survival Class

A program called City of Joy, in Congo, gets together women from all over the country who are victims of sexual harassment. This is a program that supports the ending of violence of women and girls globally. This program helps the women in Congo (180 in this matter) to get through their disappointing and hardships through giving them sex education, therapies, dance tutorials, drama/theater, and also some form of self defense. With this, many women who come to this program in the beginning look like their life is over, leave the place with their past as a form of power to change the ways of the country. Congo being a nation with United Nations, there have been no ways of stopping the amount of women being sexually harassed, 48 per hour in this matter.

I believe that the ending of sexual harassment for women is no where towards the end, so I guess something like what the program of City of Joy is accomplishing has done something for the girls and women that were raped. Taking advantage of such people does make me feel rather disgusted. I believe that the City of Joy program allows women to stand up to their beliefs, it brings out the strength in them. Being raped is (for obvious reasons) not a pleasant thing, also allowing many to go into depression and many to even die. But for the people who survive, their lives take another turn. I believe that City of Joy may or may not get people to change their views for the better, as the "women have moved from pain to power... [and are] ready to help revolutionize their communities." So I believe people should also start to look at the right side, and do the right thing.
